SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Canadian team at this month's AHL all-star game will feature the league's top two scorers in Jason Krog and Teddy Purcell.

Both were part of the 24-man team unveiled Wednesday that will face Planet USA on Jan. 28 in Binghamton, N.Y.

Krog had 54 points (16-38) in 35 games for the Chicago Wolves before Wednesday's games. That was seven points more than Purcell, a 22-year-old from St. John's, N.L., who plays for the Manchester Monarchs.

Binghamton Senators forward Denis Hamel will serve as captain of the Canadian team, which features 15 first-time all-stars.

Pascal Pelletier, who leads the AHL with 23 goals, is also part of the squad along with former Canadian world junior players Nigel Dawes, Clarke MacArthur and Cam Barker. Michael Leighton will be the starting goalie.

The Canadian team will be coached by Don Lever, who led Hamilton to last year's Calder Cup championship.

The Planet USA roster will be announced Thursday.
