CALGARY - The Calgary Flames assigned Brett Sutter, the son of general manager Darryl Sutter, to Quad City of the American Hockey League on Friday.

The younger Sutter played in three games for the Flames during his call-up, scoring his first career goal in his NHL debut Dec. 23 against Anaheim.

That goal tied the game at 3:59 of the third period and helped pave the way to a 4-3 victory.

The 21-year-old winger became the eighth member of the Sutter family to play in the NHL during his stint, following in the footsteps of Darryl, uncles Brent, Brian, Duane, Rich and Ron and cousin Brandon, who plays for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Calgary selected Sutter in the sixth round (179th overall) of the 2005 Entry Draft. In 28 games with Quad City this season, he has a goal and six assists plus 21 penalty minutes.
