Calgary Flames new third jersey so-so, but has some nice touches

After a series of Twitter teases and a video game leak nearly a month ago, the Flames officially released their third jerseys today at their fanfest. They’ll wear the new sweaters 12 times throughout this season, the first time being this Friday, Nov. 1, against the Detroit Red Wings.

Though I’m not overly impressed with the main logo treatment -- baseball-style lettering should be left to college teams -- the jerseys do feature a few redeeming qualities: the shoulder patch is very cool (I would have loved to have seen that as the main crest), the design around the inside collar is a nice touch and, of course, you can never go wrong with laces.

And, thankfully, they’ll wear black pants, rather than a red-with-red scheme.

Overall, with the Blackhawks home being a 10 and the Islanders thirds being a one, I’d give the new Flames jersey a 6.5.

What do you think of the new sweater? Vote on the poll page or let us know in the comments below.
