CALGARY - The Calgary Flames are loading up for the playoffs.
They have acquired centre Olli Jokinen and a third-round draft pick from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for Matthew Lombardi, Brandon Prust and a conditional first-round draft pick.
Jokinen has 42 points (21-21) in 57 games during his first season with the Coyotes. He's earning US$5.25 million this season and will make $5.5 million next year.
The 30-year-old Finn joins his fourth NHL team and will likely get a chance to play his first post-season game this spring.
Lombardi had spent his entire career with the Flames, putting up 167 points (65-102) in 347 career games.
Prust recorded two points (1-1) in 25 games for Calgary this season.
"We are excited to add two young players in Lombardi and Prust to our lineup," Coyotes GM Don Maloney said in a statement. "Lombardi's speed and scoring touch along with Prust's physical style should fit our team very well."
