Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs, along with the Bruins and Bruins foundation, has pledged a donation of at least $200,000 to Denna Laing, the NWHL player who suffered a severe spinal injury during the Outdoor Women’s Classic. Laing, 24, has limited movement in her arms and no feeling in her legs.

The Boston Bruins have been rallying in support of Denna Laing, the 24-year-old NWHL player who suffered a severe spinal injury during the Outdoor Women’s Classic, and Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs has stepped up in a big way in support of Laing.

The Bruins announced this past weekend that Jacobs, along with the Bruins and Bruins Foundation, will be donating $200,000 to Laing to help in her recovery from the injury that has left her with limited movement in her arms and no feeling in her legs.

“Over the past few weeks our organization has gotten to know Denna and her family, and we have all been inspired by their positive attitudes and Denna’s fighting spirit,” said Charlie Jacobs, Jeremy's son, in a release from the Bruins. “As leaders in the New England hockey community we want to help with Denna's recovery and rehab and this is our first step in what will be continuing support for the Laing family.”

The huge donation for Laing came days after Bruins center Patrice Bergeron put his personal suite at TD Garden up for raffle for a Jan. 26 game against the Anaheim Ducks. The winners of the raffle will also get a post-game meet and greet with Bergeron, and all proceeds from the raffle go to the Denna Laing Fund.

Laing has been posting updates of her recovery since it was made public that she suffered the spinal injury. In the past week, she has posted video of her speaking post-injury, a photo of her heading to rehab and delivered an inspirational message via Facebook to those who have supported her.

Laing had played only seven NWHL games before suffering the injury. Before joining the NWHL, she played one season in the CWHL with the Boston Pride, and spent her entire four-year NCAA career with the Princeton Tigers, where she was captain in her final two seasons.
