BOSTON - Boston Bruins defenceman Dennis Seidenberg will miss the rest of the NHL season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament and the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

Seidenberg was injured in the third period of Boston's game against the Ottawa Senators on Friday when he became tangled up with Ottawa forward Cory Conacher behind the Bruins' goal.

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said in a statement that the expected recovery time for Seidenberg is 6-8 months.

Seidenberg is a veteran of 615 NHL games with Philadelphia, Phoenix, Carolina, Florida and Boston. He has a goal and nine assists in 34 games this season.

The Bruins have recalled defenceman Zach Trotman from Providence of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis and assigned goaltender Niklas Svedberg. Trotman will join the team in Ottawa on Saturday and be eligible to play in Saturday night's game against the Senators.
