BOSTON - Boston Bruins defenceman Dennis Seidenberg is likely done for the season after having surgery on his left forearm to repair a lacerated tendon.

The team said Seidenberg had the surgery Tuesday and will be out eight weeks. He was injured during the first period of the Bruins' 2-1 overtime win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Seidenberg came to the Bruins in a March 30 trade with the Florida Panthers. He has two goals and seven assists in 17 games with the team. He has four goals and 28 assists overall this season and leads the NHL in blocked shots with 215.

The Bruins hold down the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with three regular-season games remaining.
