The New York Islanders' Brett Gallant got to the NHL the hard way and he didn't make it easy for himself with his choice of dance partner versus Ottawa last night.
The New York Islanders' Brett Gallant got to the NHL the hard way. At six-feet-tall and 190 pounds, he doesn't have typical enforcer size, but scrapped his way from undrafted ECHL free agent to call-up duty with the Isles. And in his first regular-season game, he dropped Ottawa Senators mountain Matt Kassian:
Kassian, aka 'The Kassassin,' is no gentle giant. The 6-foot-4, 232-pounder has fought many of the usual suspects this season, including Krys Barch, Jay Rosehill and Frazer McLaren. But Gallant caught him with a stunner in this tilt, meaning the Islanders winger now has something else on his resume besides his infamous ">polite helmet removal pre-season fight with Barch.
