BOSTON - Tim Thomas is at it again.

The Boston Bruins goaltender posted a quote from former U.S. president Calvin Coolidge on his Facebook page Monday, the latest in a string of messages that have brought attention to him.

The most recent message is not overtly political. Instead, the October 1924 quote attributed to Coolidge praises those who commit their life to professional athletics and "raise (sport) to the level of an art."

Thomas has been a source of debate since deciding to skip the Bruins visit to the White House on Jan. 23. In a Facebook message that followed, he decried a federal government that "has grown out of control."

Last week, he made headlines again by wading into a debate in Washington about Catholic institutions being forced by the government to offer insurance for women's contraceptives. "I Stand with the Catholics in the fight for Religious Freedom," Thomas wrote.

He's been reluctant to expand on his Facebook posts with reporters.

"I'm going to use my right to remain silent," Thomas said Feb. 9. "You have right to ask the questions and I have the right to not answer those questions. This is my job. Facebook is my personal life. If you guys don't understand the difference between individual and job there's a problem."

The Bruins continue to lead the Northeast Division.

Thomas captured the Vezina Trophy and Conn Smythe Trophy while helping Boston win the Stanley Cup last season.
