Blues’ Jake Allen absolutely robs Predators’ Mike Ribeiro with diving glove save

St. Louis goaltender Jake Allen has been trying to establish himself as the defenite starting netminder for the Blues, and his ridiculous glove stop on Predators center Mike Ribeiro won’t hurt Allen’s case. Down and out, Allen got a piece of a surefire Ribeiro goal.

Heading into Saturday night’s action, Nashville Predators center Mike Ribeiro had only scored once in 12 games. He didn’t get any help from St. Louis Blues goaltender Jake Allen, either.

With the Predators on the power play in the second period, the puck ended up on the stick of Riberio, who had a wide open net to bury the puck into, when Allen dove across to steal a sure goal away from the Nashville pivot:

Ribeiro wasn't the only one to end the game shaking their head, though. When the final whistle blew, Allen had posted an unbelievable 45 saves and his second shutout of the season.

The Blues had, for the most part, split duty between Allen and Brian Elliott for most of the past year, but Allen has asserted himself as the surefire starting goaltender for St. Louis going forward. Coming into Saturday’s game, Allen had won four of his past five starts and hadn’t allowed more than two goals in any game. In his past five games, his save percentage jumped to .935 on the season and goals-against average dipped to 1.93.
