VANCOUVER - St. Louis Blues centre Andy McDonald was scratched from Sunday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks with what the club called an upper-body injury.

McDonald was injured early in overtime Saturday night in Edmonton when Taylor Hall scored the game-winner during overtime in a 2-1 Oilers victory.

The Blues forward appeared to suffer a head injury when he collided with Edmonton’s Shawn Horcoff near the Oilers blue-line. The collision sprung Hall for a breakaway.

When asked whether McDonald suffered a concussion, coach Davis Payne would only say he would be evaluated further on Monday.

When asked whether McDonald suffered a concussion, Payne would only say he would be evaluated further on Monday.

“He’s out, upper body, we’ll go day-to-day and we’ll get some evaluation when we get back to St. Louis,”Payne said.

The Blues are already missing forwards David Perron and T.J. Oshie.

McDonald, who flew with the team to Vancouver after the Edmonton loss, was tied for the team lead with 17 points on eight goals and nine assists in 25 games.

“It should familiar territory for us,”Payne said of the string of injuries.

“We’ve had guys out of the lineup for extended time and it’s just another situation where we have to band together and be very, very good as a group.”
