NEW YORK - Steve Mason's first full month in the NHL ended in style.
The Columbus Blue Jackets goalie was named the league's top rookie in November after posting a 5-2-1 record.
Mason was recalled from the American Hockey League on Nov. 4 and earned victories in his first three starts. The 20-year-old ended up with a 2.09 goals-against average, .919 save percentage and two shutouts in eight appearances.
He's the second straight Columbus player to receive the top rookie honour after forward Derrick Brassard took it in October.
Mason was selected over Brassard, Mikhail Grabovski of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Kris Versteeg of the Chicago Blackhawks, Alex Goligoski of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Drew Doughty of the Los Angeles Kings.
