Scott Darling’s mask for the upcoming season is absolutely excellent as he’s paying tribute to the Wayne’s World films, which featured a pair of rock-and-roll loving Chicago Blackhawks fans.

Scott Darling has the honor of being able to play in his home state as the backup goaltender for the Chicago Blackhawks, and he’s made sure to pay tribute to the city and state with his masks.

This past season, Darling’s mask included a number of monuments and tributes to Chicago. It featured the Cloud Gate, Navy Pier, nods to the Blues Brothers and Ferris Bueller and even included a hot dog from Portillo’s. So, in keeping with homages to his home state, Darling is preparing to rock another mask with some Chicago flair, this time with a nod to the Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar of Wayne’s World fame. Check out the full mask below:

Excellent!

In the Wayne’s World films, which were based on the Saturday Night Live sketch of the same name and star Mike Myers as Campbell and Dana Carvey as Algar, the rock-and-roll and Blackhawks loving duo live just outside Chicago in nearby Aurora, Ill. As it turns out, Aurora is only a short drive from Darling’s hometown of Lemont, Ill.

The Blackhawks logo is heavily featured throughout the films. Campbell and Algar both wear jerseys of their favorite players — Stan Mikita and Tony Esposito, respectively — and you can spot other nods to the team throughout, including the pair visiting a fake doughnut shop called “Stan Mikita’s Donuts.”

If Darling’s mask makes it through the entire season, it will be worn as the Wayne’s World films celebrate 25 years since their release, an anniversary which makes the movies only three years younger than the soon-to-be 28-year-old Darling.
