The St. Louis Blues netminder made a diving lunge with his paddle to deny one of the most dangerous offensive forces in the NHL last night and it turned out to be crucial in the long run. Witness the fitness…
The St. Louis Blues got a statement win against Chicago last night and goaltender Jake Allen played a big role. The 25-year-old made 33 saves in regulation, none more impressive than this thievery with Patrick Kane gazing into the open maw of the net:
That's cold. Allen's save kept the game scoreless during an extended power play stemming from a Ryan Reaves charging major and the Hawks wouldn't end up scoring until Andrew Ladd cashed in at the end of that man advantage in the second period.
The Blues came back however, forcing a shootout and Allen once again stood tall by making four of six saves in the final showdown. St. Louis now sits just one point back of Chicago for the Central Division lead (Dallas is sandwiched in there too) and notched its second victory of the season over the Hawks in the process.
