The Ducks announced Wednesday that Carlyle has signed a one-year contract extension. The 51-year-old is now under contract through the 2008-09 season.
"Randy has been the perfect fit for this organization with his hard-working, aggressive style," Ducks general manager Brian Burke said in a release. "He has been a major factor in the success we've had the past two seasons."
Carlyle was named the seventh head coach in team history on Aug. 1, 2005. He led the Ducks to the Western Conference final last year, where they lost to the Edmonton Oilers in five games.
The Ducks won the Western title this year and then defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-1 in the championship series.
Anaheim finished the regular season with a 48-20-14 mark and 110 points. The club set new franchise records in most major statistical categories.
