SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri will have to sit out two games if he ever returns to the American Hockey League.

Kadri, who was called up from the Toronto Marlies on Friday, was handed a two-game suspension by the AHL on Saturday.

Kadri received the ban as a result of his actions in a 5-1 victory over the Adirondack Phantoms last Thursday. He was given slashing and unsportsmanlike conduct minors along with a game misconduct midway through the third period.

Kadri, who had 14 points in 14 games this season, will miss the next two games for which he is active on an AHL roster.

The Maple Leafs selected Kadri with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NHL entry draft.
