The education packages offered by the CHL don't handcuff kids like they used to and give them time to consider options.
Though the story has already gone through so many permutations and baffling left turns, for the time being the fledgling CHLPA appears to be in ashes.

“I’m not crazy; you’re the one who’s crazy. You’re driving me crazy.”

Is it realistic to expect the NHL to turn to replacement players during the lockout?
I had an interesting conversation with an audio tech guy while doing a TV interview last month. Even though he was a union worker, he didn’t understand why the NHL wouldn’t simply bring in scab players during the then-impending lockout.

Looking at five teams from junior and NCAA circuits that will be worth keeping an eye on this season.

The CHLPA is in its infancy and may not even get off the ground, but there are some interesting things about it to consider.

Columbus has a new marketing campaign this season and, given all their troubles, they're an honest team to get behind.
In the late 1980s, pioneering gangsta rap group N.W.A. changed the face of hip hop with their us-against-the-world take on life. Nearly 25 years later, the Columbus Blue Jackets have echoed those three famous letters for that team's new marketing campaign and you couldn't find a more worthy franchise to identify with the hip hop crew's tales of alienation.

"We're playing the defending champs and you can tell they're not going to beat themselves. That team, just from them going all the way, you can see it over there. There's no panic…You can tell that's a machine over there and we've got to be at our best."
