The Washington Capitals were eliminated in the first round of the 2008 playoffs, but their post-season still ended on something of a high.
Their highly entertaining confrontation with the Philadelphia Flyers could just as easily have gone in their favor and they could have been the Cinderella team in the East that went deep into the spring.

The Board of Governors’ approval of recommended rule changes falls under the tinkering category, but the moves are focused on adding more goals, while improving or maintaining player safety.

Like no other sports league, the NHL honors its best in an elegant and personable manner at the awards show.
It’s not fashionable to praise the NHL, but I’ve rarely been accused of having good sartorial sense, so here it is: the league we often love to bash is on a pretty decent run (a few ownership messes notwithstanding).

Is it lucky happenstance or the payoff from hard work and prudent planning?
