With all this boring playoff hockey putting me to sleep, thank God there's Sean Avery...
God Bless Sean Avery. The man is a living, breathing PSA.
Sean Avery is like Little Jimmy from those short films we were forced to watch in school.

Prepare for the worst and, by God, hope for the best...
They say one of the keys to life is to aim low and avoid disappointment. This would explain George Clooney being with that Girls Gone Wild chick instead of, say, the Queen of Belgium or the entire WNBA.

The world of sports statistics is one of pointless drivel. Who pays these guys to track the number of goal posts hit?
To all those previously unaware, the Edmonton Oilers – as of mid-March, at least – lead the league in the number of times their opponents hit the goalpost with an errant shot.

We're on the precipice of the NHL's version of Big Brother.
People can often be like puppies watching a bird in that they all tend to fixate on the exact same thing. Meanwhile another bird is doubling back and is in the process of stealing all their kibble.

When all hope has disappeared, don't throw in the towel; you still have plenty of motivational tools at your disposal.
Inevitably – Mr. NHL hockey player – you have to admit when it’s over.
Despite you team’s “best” efforts, sometimes you fall just short of qualifying for the playoffs (for the Lightning, “just short” translates to something akin to a turtle trying to jump a swimming pool).

It time for the NHL to flatter some of it's sports brethren and take note of how the big boys get things done.
One thing that’s always puzzled me about the NHL is who and what it chooses to imitate.
It would seem only natural for a perpetually-fringe sport like hockey to hitch its proverbial wagon to something, at least proverbially, that has wheels.

It took me awhile, but I finally figured it out...and boy am I glad I did!
Dear TSN:
Well, you had me fooled for a while, but I finally have you figured out. Frankly, I feel pretty stupid for not having unraveled this mystery sooner than I did.

The trade deadline is early next week, and Loose Change sits down to chat with the two biggest players.
Loose Change (LC): With the trade deadline fast approaching you two are going to have quite the busy stretch ahead of you.
No-Trade Clause (NTC): Oh yeah.

The big injuries are widely reported and the repercussions obvious, but what about those ultra-small boo-boos? It's time to give some love to them.
Well, you know this is going to be a tough list to crack.
If there’s ever any mention of the most severe injury in NHL history, it revolves around the triumvirate of Clint Malarchuk, Bill Masterton and now, Richard Zednik.

So the Oilers are about to have a new owner, but what do we really know about Daryl Katz?
Well, assuming he gets NHL approval and passes the league’s mandatory audition (reportedly he’s doing a hip-hop/banjo fusion sort of thing), Mr.

The Senators goalie stars in this NHL/Law & Order crossover - what will it take to tame this unwieldy crease patroller?
So Ottawa’s resident problem child is up to his old tricks, huh? Ray Emery is late for practice – again – and this time he’s run out of dead uncles and destructive canines to blame it on.
