The Leafs blueliner is supposed to supply a list of 10 teams he wouldn't mind being dealt to, but that opens up a can of worms, doesn't it?
Dear Mr. Burke (may I call you Brian?),
It saddens me that it has come to this. I’d really like to stay here in Toronto, but I can understand that you’re trying to rebuild and I suppose it’s a smart move to trade me away in an attempt to upgrade the team’s talent level.

It's troubling times on the West Coast and one new employee who was supposed to bring in great things hasn't exactly lived up to his end of the bargain.
In addition to this job as a world-famous journalist I’m also a premier heart surgeon, a part-time golf caddy (long story) and – perhaps my favourite vocation of all – an incredibly gifted self-help guru.

A new day, a new perspective on the going-ons early in the wonderful week of hockey...
It’s official. I’ve been moved in the THN.com lineup from Thursdays to Tuesdays (which is sort of spelled the same, so that should really help me narrow down possibilities when I (again) forget which color of pill I’m supposed to take on which days).

The man upstairs seems to be such a big fan of football, it's high time we try and sell Him on the game of hockey.
If there’s one thing the Arizona Cardinals recent rise to prominence has shown us (besides the relentless need for sustained persistence – as first suggested by a certain prophetic Little Engine That Could) it’s the value of having the Lord on your side – or at least the belief he’s - er He’s - on your side.

Getting pumped up for the NHL's all-star weekend takes a little bit of effort...
Sometimes you just have to feel for the National Hockey League. It has but three dates on its calendar – the Winter (ahem) Classic; the final game of the Stanley Cup playoffs and the all-star weekend – that might (gently) shake the world at large, and the all-star one happens to fall in the same week Barack Obama initiates the first Planet Earth Group Hug.

When you're a hockey team based in the desert, it's hard not to look at the sunny side of things.
Reading about the Phoenix Coyotes recently is a lot like hovering over your Great Granddad while he clings to life on a respirator. You make trite comments like “we think he blinked earlier today” when you know things aren’t looking very good.

A shiny new Swede can have a lot of bells and whistles, so it's important to read the instructions before putting it to use.
Congratulations on purchasing the 2009 Mats Sundin!
This manual will assist you in getting to know your Mats Sundin and will maximize your enjoyment and efficiency of your new unit.

We break in the New Year with some close analyzing of THN's annual People of Power and Influence issue.
For those of you too lazy, too cheap or possibly too illiterate (there is help) to have picked up the Dec. 29 edition of The Hockey News, you missed a lot.

'Tis the season, and who doesn't love a Christmas pageant?
One of the true joys of the holiday season – besides random snowball attacks on unsuspecting postal workers – is the annual National Hockey League Christmas Pageant.

His recent battle with a snowblower reveals a lot about the man...
Perhaps you read about it in Snowblowing Today or possibly Reconstructive Hand Injuries Quarterly, but just in case you missed it, the story goes something like this:
Avalanche center Joe Sakic injured his hand while trying to dislodge some wet snow from his snowblower and underwent tricky reconstructive surgery Tuesday to repair five broken bones and some damaged tendons in his hand and will be out of the Colorado lineup for the next three months.

We've heard what all the experts have to say, now it's time to give "others" a voice.
Sean Avery sure has some explaining to do. He’s set to meet the NHL brass in New York City Thursday, who will certainly pepper him with questions like “what were you thinking,” “do you feel you’re above league bylaws,” and “is Rachel Hunter really that hot in person?”
Sean will likely flash the puppy dog eyes, admit he’s been a bad widdle boy and prepare to take a five game suspension.

Indulge me this week
Been struck by the muse
Lyrically, quite different
This take on the news
We try out some poetry
