Matt Jacznik, Cambridge Ont. When I originally began writing this piece my intentions were to express my disapproval of the seemingly near-sighted trading of Montreal Canadiens' goaltender Jaroslav Halak to the St.

Louis-Pierre Smith Lacroix, Quebec City, Que. In the 1980s, Wayne Gretzky called the New Jersey Devils a "Mickey Mouse organization." In the 1990s, Walt Disney entered the NHL with its cartoon-esque Mighty Ducks.

Jordan Smith, Vancouver I find it dumb to have the NHL kickoff in Europe. The league is not going to expand to Europe anytime soon, so why have regular season games there? Josh Barr, Flin Flon, Man. Congrats to Joe Thornton for becoming the eighth full-time captain in Sharks history. It has undoubtedly been his team since he arrived.

Ed Vanderwoude, Hamilton, Ont. I enjoyed your special issue, The Top 100 Players of All-Time by Position, but I find it troubling that Bobby Clarke continues to make these lists.

Todd Ritchie, Windsor, Ont. I grew as a big Bob Probert fan and like many was deeply saddened by his sudden and untimely death. Bob put all his blood and sweat into a 16-year NHL career, nine with Detroit and seven in Chicago.

Jim Ramlow, Toledo, Ohio Fans who want the current "hand pass" rule rescinded apparently don't know the reason it originally passed.

Doug Quigley, Newmarket, Ont. Ron Wilson needs to shut up and coach hockey! There is no benefit to the Leafs by him criticizing and calling out his players as individuals to the media, as he did with Nazem Kadri over the weekend.

Brett Giroux, Chazy, N.Y. I feel Patrice Bergeron deserved to be on your top 20 list of the top centers in the NHL. This is a man who is a leader, mentor, helps out in the community and is on the first PP and PK units.

Nick Boukas, Denver, Colo. There are two things that are continually gnawing at me. First, leave the game alone. There is no other league that continually looks to make major changes every season other than the NHL.

Tom Chlebek, New York I find it hard to believe Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens had his feelings hurt because fans were booing him after he gave up four goals on the first nine shots in the pre-season opener at the Bell Centre.
