Bring back the Habs-Nordiques rivalry

by The Hockey News - October 19, 2010 9:55 PM EDT

Richard Meunier, Harrisville, R.I. The recent The Hockey News poll (Oct. 11 issue) on "what city the NHL should go to next" was right on.

Another lockout would be death of NHL

by The Hockey News - October 19, 2010 4:26 PM EDT

Steven Ellis, Oakville, Ont. The 1994-95 season frustrated many fans. It was the first time the NHL had a lockout. But that lasted only half the season.

Suspension shame

by The Hockey News - October 19, 2010 11:39 AM EDT

Thomas Vidal-Lessard, Cookshire-Eaton, Que. It's a shame Shane Doan got suspended three games for a questionable hit on Dan Sexton and Niklas Hjalmarsson only two games for practically sending Jason Pominville through the boards and up in the 10th row.

Monsters mash

by The Hockey News - October 17, 2010 11:43 AM EDT

Kenny Callow, Madison, Ohio I am shocked you guys picked the Lake Erie Monsters to finish sixth in your American League season preview. The Monsters have plenty of talent like David Van der Gulik, Greg Mauldin, Jason Bacashihua and Patrick Bordeleau, just to name a few.

Fighting deserves game misconduct

by The Hockey News - October 16, 2010 8:25 AM EDT

Jeff Koopman, Campbell River, B.C. Fighting for the wrong reason is wrong. Even in hockey.  But I still watch, it's just human nature.

Hjalmarsson vs. Sabres will show why code works

by The Hockey News - October 14, 2010 4:36 PM EDT

S.M. Williams, San Francisco, Calif. Blackhawks defensemen Niklas Hjalmarsson may wish he had been suspended longer. Following his reckless boarding of the Sabres' Jason Pominville Oct.

Sutter's style seems senseless

by The Hockey News - October 14, 2010 4:29 PM EDT

Henry Smith, Invermere, B.C. The Calgary Flames goals-for has taken a dramatic drop in recent years. Having scored 251 goals in 2008-09, they dropped to just 201 last year and this year does not look much better.

Blackout blues

by The Hockey News - October 14, 2010 4:25 PM EDT

Tristan McLoughlin, Winnipeg, Man. I was bitterly disappointed this year when I found out I won't be able to watch more than half of my beloved Canucks’ games this year.

Shoot to thrill

by The Hockey News - October 14, 2010 4:17 PM EDT

Nick Kolupanowich, Baltimore, Md. While watching the Devils and Sabres go into overtime Oct. 13, I was struck with the following idea: Let the team that has the most shots in regulation start overtime with a faceoff in the offensive zone.

Las Vegas won't work

by The Hockey News - October 13, 2010 4:21 PM EDT

Steve Clowers, Grand Terrace, Calif. I don't understand why Las Vegas keeps popping up in conversations about relocation/expansion? First of all, this is not a knock on Vegas, but I lived there for many years and when the town had the IHL Thunder, they couldn't even support them.

Hockey needs more KHLs

by The Hockey News - October 12, 2010 4:23 PM EDT

Jeff Koopman, Campbell River, B.C. The Kontinental League may not be good for the NHL, but the KHL is good for hockey.  I don't mind the NHL being the top league in the world, but the NHL should not be the only major hockey league.

NHL rosters should be smaller

by The Hockey News - October 12, 2010 10:47 AM EDT

Jeff Koopman, Campbell River, B.C. I think all NHL rosters should be set at 15 skaters and two goalies.  Nobody pays to see the fourth line or sixth defenseman play or not play.
