Counting on the crease

by The Hockey News - May 9, 2010 11:14 AM EDT

Nolan Tallmadge, Lyndonville, Vt. In your May 10 issue there was an interesting column by Ken Campbell about whether or not goaltending is as big as we think it is in the playoffs.

Add more playoff trophies

by The Hockey News - May 9, 2010 10:40 AM EDT

Josh Rapplean, St. Louis If the NHL wants to honor the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr and Patrick Roy by naming trophies after them, why not create trophies that recognize post-season accomplishments?   Currently the Conn Smythe is the only individual trophy awarded for playoff performance.

Give Howe some hardware

by The Hockey News - May 9, 2010 10:38 AM EDT

Bernard J. Bisson, Centennial, Wyo. I would imagine the argument as to who is the all time greatest player will not be settled in my lifetime (I'm 75 years old).

Skinner will be a steal

by The Hockey News - May 2, 2010 8:07 PM EDT

Pat Moules, Kitchener, Ont. Why all the fuss over Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin? Does anyone realize that Jeff Skinner of the Kitchener Rangers has scored more goals than any player in junior hockey this year? He had 50 goals in 64 regular season games and 20 goals in 20 playoff games.

World must improve before women belong in Olympics

by The Hockey News - May 2, 2010 8:04 PM EDT

Dennis Petroni, Leonard, Mich. A recent article appeared in The Hockey News regarding women's Olympic hockey and whether or not it should remain on the agenda.

NHL in great shape

by The Hockey News - May 2, 2010 3:52 PM EDT

Corey Kendall, St. John's, Nfld. The 2010 NHL playoffs are proving once again just how great the game of hockey is. But the NHL also has arguably the most disgruntled fans in sports.

Cool Bryz deserves Hart and Vezina

by The Hockey News - May 1, 2010 8:09 PM EDT

Matthew Robinson, Mississauga, Ont. I find it amazing how many people can justify saying Ryan Miller deserves both the Hart and the Vezina when there is clearly another goaltender who is more deserving of both honors.

Renaming award disrespects Pearson

by The Hockey News - May 1, 2010 8:01 PM EDT

Patricia Lawson, Stittsville, Ont. I was very disappointed to learn that the Lester B. Pearson Award has been renamed. Lester Pearson was a man who believed in settling differences by peaceful means.

Alfie no angel

by The Hockey News - May 1, 2010 8:01 PM EDT

Andrew Oliver, La Crescenta, Calif. As a Ducks fans, I was a little intrigued at the recent cover story in the April 26 issue all about the class of Daniel Alfredsson.

Ovie needs to be Ovie

by The Hockey News - May 1, 2010 7:55 PM EDT

Rodd Haltunen, Lake Linden, Mich. It's obvious Alex Ovechkin has changed his game due to his recent suspensions. He's not flying all over the ice delivering the crushing hits like he used to.

Hart-break

by The Hockey News - April 29, 2010 4:06 PM EDT

Josh Barr, Flin Flon, Man. Voters should be embarrassed for not only overlooking Ryan Miller for the Hart Trophy, but for also nominating Alex Ovechkin.

Protect the player with glass

by The Hockey News - April 28, 2010 2:15 PM EDT

Steven Penman, Winnipeg, Man. I got a good laugh when Duncan Keith sprayed an obnoxious fan with a Gatorade bottle while sitting in the penalty box, but it raises the question as to why there is a large enough space into the penalty box for a fan to be able to harass him.
