by Adam Proteau - May 13, 2008 1:57 PM EDT

In the mailbag: Where does Kolzig go?... What of Bill Clement?... Was JFJ T.O.'s problem? And Vegas, here we come!
On account of a mini-vacation, this here is the last mailbag column I’ll be doing until next Tuesday. You can keep sending questions to the usual spot (askadam@thehockeynews.

'Hab'ing a sarcastic Friday

'Hab'ing a sarcastic Friday

by Adam Proteau - May 9, 2008 12:37 PM EDT

In Friday's mailbag: What's a Hab?; giving the Stars some credit; picking where to play in the NHL; and Balsillie in Buffalo.
I’ll knock off another mailbag Tuesday, but as revealed EXCLUSIVELY in this space on Tuesday, my brief Las Vegas vacation will prevent me from completing (or even starting) my mailbag next Friday.

Eyes and ears

Eyes and ears

by Adam Proteau - May 6, 2008 1:51 PM EDT

Why the stripes love Crosby, Ovechkin's stick, and Darren McCarty, all covered off in the Tuesday mailbag.
A little advance warning – I’ll be putting together a mailbag feature this Friday and next Tuesday, but Friday the 16th, I’ll be recovering from my first night in Las Vegas and thus unwilling to work.

Same old sad story

Same old sad story

by Adam Proteau - May 2, 2008 12:57 PM EDT

In Friday's mailbag: MacLean, Fedorov returning to past success; Canada vs. U.S.; and building an NHL team.
Back at it on a rainy Friday morning in Toronto, where there’s still some debate as to whether or not Darcy Tucker should have his contract bought out by the Maple Leafs.

Dollar and sense

Dollar and sense

by Adam Proteau - April 29, 2008 3:02 PM EDT

In the Tuesday mailbag: New vs. old goalies... Jaromir Jagr to Pittsburgh?... and the future of Wade Redden.
Thanks to some for the words of encouragement after my last mailbag. They’re much appreciated. A couple kind people suggested the mailbag column should be expanded by a few questions every Tuesday and Friday; I’m not averse to the idea – schedule-permitting, of course – but I’ve got to warn you, I may have to lean on sarcasm (more than I do already) to get the job done.

The Don defense

The Don defense

by Adam Proteau - April 25, 2008 12:40 PM EDT

In this edition of THN.com's mailbag, Don Cherry's no Proteau fan... and Ray Emery in Toronto?
It was an eventful Thursday evening in the Proteau compound, as the first intermission show on Hockey Night In Canada suddenly got a little personal.

Feeling the love

Feeling the love

by Adam Proteau - April 22, 2008 2:30 PM EDT

In the mailbag: Adam hears it from a Philly fan... Hab jealousy... underpaid goalies... and rebuilding Toronto.
It’s shaping up to be a great Tuesday, with not one, but two Game 7s – and at different times! – on tap. Here in mailbag land, though, we’re dealing with the standard mish-mash of non-concealed hatred and wildly varied questions.

Nothing but the truth

Nothing but the truth

by Adam Proteau - April 18, 2008 1:32 PM EDT

In the Friday mailbag: How does Proteau really feel about Philly, what St. Louis was thinking, and trash talking.
There’s a reason why I’m a Fall and Spring guy – I love heat without the humidity that squeezes the life out of you, and a cool breeze minus the vicious bite it acquires in winter.

Double standards

Double standards

by Adam Proteau - April 15, 2008 3:29 PM EDT

Tuesday's mailbag features questions on THN's hatred of the Flyers, Sean Avery, Islanders at the draft, and RFA offer sheets.
It’s April 15, which means it’s time to salute the greatest birthday club in history. Current members include Ilya Kovalchuk, Tim Thomas, Air Canada Centre PA announcer and DJ extraordinaire Andy Frost, and one-hit UK “singer” Samantha Fox.

Shut yer trap

Shut yer trap

by Adam Proteau - April 11, 2008 11:56 AM EDT

In the Friday mailbag: Should NHLers keep quiet? Stamkos to Vancouver? Blueline help for L.A.?
Hmmmmnnn…the first round of the NHL’s post-season has just gotten underway, but most of your questions are of the non-playoff variety.

Promoting Jarome

Promoting Jarome

by Adam Proteau - April 8, 2008 2:21 PM EDT

Why isn't the league showcasing Iginla? Can Price lead the Habs to glory? These questions and more in the Tuesday mailbag.
The playoffs are a little more than 24 hours away, but you wouldn’t know it judging by the varied nature of your questions. Keep ‘em coming by sending them to askadam@thehockeynews.

One-track mind

One-track mind

by Adam Proteau - April 4, 2008 1:02 PM EDT

Is Adam a blind follower? Is Sid the best of all-time? What about NTCs as bonuses? These questions and more in the Friday mailbag.
After an April Fools Day semi-hiatus, we’re back with a normal edition of your wonderings and my replies. We begin with a gentleman who seems somewhat confused by my last mailbag column.

All things considered, how would you rate this NHL season?

“I think when you’re at home the first two games, sometimes you get a little bit too comfortable at home. Then you come on the road, maybe it’s like a rude awakening…We’ve had three series to figure that out, learn it. We definitely want to be better (Monday), especially in the first game on the road.”

- Chicago's Patrick Kane. The Blackhawks are 0-3 in Game 3s this playoff.
