Have something you'd like to know about the NHL or have something to say about what The Hockey News has written? Every Friday, columnist Adam Proteau will respond to your emails in The Hockey News.com's mailbag feature.

With Adam away, staffers step up to answer on Patrick Kane, Paul Kelly, captains, assistants and more.
What a beautiful day in Toronto – and on the verge of a long weekend, too. Adam Proteau is enjoying his vacation, so the THN staffers chipped in to answer your questions.

In this pre-vacation mailbag: Who will carry Sakic's torch?; Will Boston chase Heatley?; Jim Balsillie; and more.
I’m in vacation mode next week, but my co-workers will “gladly” pick up the pace, so keep sending your questions to the usual location (askadam@thehockeynews.

In the mailbag this week: how THN arrives at its rankings... how the Canes will fare... and Big Bert's impact in Detroit.
A good Friday to you all. But enough of that sentimental rigamarole. I’ve got my business socks on, so it must be business time. Adam, I’ve seen some of the reactions on THN.

In the latest summer mailbag: Who to see in Germany?; Should the Nucks deal Luongo?; and will the NHL expand overseas?
Mailbag! Get your mid-August mailbag here! Hey Adam, two questions for you: One, with Cory Schneider's spectacular play in the American League last year showing us he's ready for the show, would it be better to trade him for depth or call him up and trade Luongo? (I love Louie, but the Nucks could get anybody they want for him.

In the mailbag this week: Ottawa as dark horse? Luongo on the move? Isles a mover and shaker? And more.
This mailbag is dedicated to John Hughes, the Hollywood director who died unexpectedly in New York Thursday at age 59. Like almost everyone who was a teenager in the ‘80s, I saw just about every movie the man filmed or wrote.

Adam's got the Twitter bug and answers your questions on Rick Nash, the Hurricanes and more in a new-age way.
When it comes to accepting the semi-new technology of Twitter into my life, I’m more like the late Bill Wirtz was with TV than Shaquille O’Neal.

This week in the mailbag: Is Philly a contender? Why stay in Phoenix? Will Kaberle be dealt? Should Duchene be sent down? And more.
Welcome to another web edition of Inquire Of Adam. Below you will find questions and answers on many interesting hockey topics. Remember to keep reading this section next week and every week, if only to find out whether the author can come up with yet another different lead-in paragraph to the feature – or divest himself of what remains of his mental faculties.

In the mailbag: Changes in L.A.? What to do with Dany? The Atlantic's best? Should Sather be fired?
I understand why people enjoy cute animal videos, but when I see a headline that says, “Tiny Dwarf Goat Surfs On The Back Of A Sheep,” it’s official – we’re using up valuable bandwidth for all the wrong reasons.

In this week's mailbag: Limitations on long-term deals?; why can't Legace find work?; and will the Leafs ever win again?
Here we go again. And I mean that in the best way. Adam, in this time of league and player partnership, why are players still getting guaranteed contracts and not percentage-based contracts? If the cap goes up, players get a raise; if the cap stays flat or falls, players have to give some back.

In the mailbag: UFA winners and losers? Why is Detroit in the West? Tavares or Hedman? A a Proteau-tune?
Happy real, official off-season, everybody. Let’s celebrate with a contractually obligated mailbag. Adam, I’m gonna make this real simple: Who are your “winner” and “loser” teams after the first couple days of unrestricted free agency? Jason M.

Proteau answers readers questions on watching the draft, his '10 Cup pick, Burke's hypocrisy, Bouwmeester's future, and more.
Just think – by this time next week, the NHL draft will be over, as will the first manic days of unrestricted free agency. However will hockeyphiles survive for the following couple months? Beats me.

In this week's mailbag: Heatley's Olympic chances... who will San Jose move... why is Adam so negative? And more.
Now that the NHL season is officially over and the league’s awards have been handed out, how much breathing room do we get before talking hockey again – three, four whole days? Just another reason why exhibition games suck harder than an asthmatic vampire and ought to be done away with for good.
