What will the Sharks do in net?; Where does Dan Ellis fit in?; The Hall of Fame induction process; and more.
A quick programming note to begin this Draft Day mailbag: in spite of reports to the contrary, The Hockey News Radio Show will return to the XM Home Ice airwaves on July 1, the first day of free agency, from 3-4 p.

Jaroslav Halak trade analysis

Jaroslav Halak trade analysis

by Adam Proteau - June 18, 2010 2:10 PM EDT

In the mailbag: Are the Canadiens nuts?; Adam Burish's comments; most exciting time of year; and more.
There’s no THN Radio this week on XM Home Ice 204, but our biweekly summer schedule begins next Friday from 3-4 p.m. Eastern. No break in the relentless rate at which your mailbag questions come in, though.

Blackhawks Cup parade

Blackhawks Cup parade

by Adam Proteau - June 11, 2010 1:46 PM EDT

In the mailbag: Did Chicago deserve to win?; Patrick Marleau, the New York Rangers and more.
Hearty congratulations to the Chicago Blackhawks players and management on their NHL championship. But heartier congrats to Hawks fans – be they tattered-and-worn survivors of the BillWirtzocalypse years, or new fans of the team and the sport – for breathing such life into the organization over the past few years.

Perfect game

Perfect game

by Adam Proteau - June 4, 2010 2:35 PM EDT

In the week-ending mailbag: Lidstrom returns to Wings; why let teams ice the puck?; Connolly's trade value; and more.
Let’s start this mailbag with a non-hockey note: By now you’ve probably heard about Major League Baseball’s major league controversy over the non-perfect perfect game by Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga – and the amazing amount of class and grace Galarraga showed toward umpire Jim Joyce who admitted he blew the call.

Huat about Huet?

Huat about Huet?

by Adam Proteau - May 28, 2010 1:45 PM EDT

In the mailbag: Can the Hawks dump Huet?; Price or Halak?; why older jerseys are the best; and more.
We haven’t started the Stanley Cup final yet, but most of you question-posers are focused on anything other than the Blackhawks or Flyers this week.

A long weekend

A long weekend

by Adam Proteau - May 21, 2010 1:28 PM EDT

Heading into the extended respite, Adam answers on Malkin trade rumors, Panthers rebuild options, national anthems, and more.
If you’re growing weary of delays between NHL playoff games, remember, it could be a lot worse. You could be stuck watching NHL pre-season hockey, the biggest waste of time and ice since, well, this.

Secrets and lies

Secrets and lies

by Adam Proteau - May 14, 2010 2:08 PM EDT

Why do coaches hide their words? Rask back to the Leafs? Milbury off the air? One-team wonders? All answered in the mailbag.
Count me among the multitudes demanding Jaroslav Halak’s name be engraved on the Conn Smythe Trophy this very second. How is any still-playoff-active player going to top someone who virtually single-handedly eliminated the league’s best regular season team and its defending Stanley Cup champion? The only way I can see it happening is if Chicago’s Jonathan Toews or Patrick Kane scores 10 goals in each of the next two series, then announces during an on-ice Cup celebration that they’re taking their lucrative contract extension and using it to buy the Phoenix Coyotes.

Hart attack

Hart attack

by Adam Proteau - May 7, 2010 1:19 PM EDT

In the end-of-week mailbag: Best coaches of the past 10 years; who will be the MVP; Flyers after Price?; and more.
Anybody else looking forward to the amazing Betty White hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend? If she’s not sitting in the first guest chair on “What Up With That?”, and playing ESPN Classic women’s sports at Hamilton’s Copps Coliseum, I’ll be intensely displeased.

Young man's game

Young man's game

by Adam Proteau - April 30, 2010 12:56 PM EDT

In the Friday mailbag: second round picks; more ref conspiracies; Marc-Andre Fleury; and a Price trade proposal.
The NHL Players’ Association hasn’t had the most impressive success-to-failure ratio the past few years, but its decision to rename the Lester B.

'Lappy' happy

'Lappy' happy

by Adam Proteau - April 23, 2010 12:35 PM EDT

Adam answers on playoff warriors, Shattuck's vs. Notre Dame and a strange school project in this week's mailbag.
For all the times we in the hockey world chastise, antagonize and vilify NHL players, we should acknowledge the great lengths they go to entertain us.

Respect your elders

Respect your elders

by Adam Proteau - April 16, 2010 12:08 PM EDT

In the 38-year mailbag: Will the Oilers take Tyler or Taylor? More credit for Howard? Marleau to the Leafs? And more.
I don’t know about you, but after 38 birthdays, I think the rest should be silent, like the ‘k’ in ‘knead,’ or John Tortorella at a dinner celebrating the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

Covering all the bases

Covering all the bases

by Adam Proteau - April 9, 2010 2:10 PM EDT

In the mailbag this week: Playoff underdogs? NCAA coverage? The All-Stars? And life at THN?
I wonder what a one-sentence intro to the mailbag would look like? Adam, I am in a playoff pool and never come close to winning. Can you give me an educated guess as to who will go deep this season? I'm thinking Washington and Chicago, but that's too obvious.
