In the first of our season-long coach of the year rankings, we focus on Tampa Bay's new bench boss Guy Boucher, who has his team out in front of the Eastern Conference, while Terry Murray is winning in Los Angeles.
The Jack Adams Award can be a tricky one. Last season, the Phoenix Coyotes were pegged by many to finish last or second-last in the tough Western Conference, so when the team jumped out to a quick start, the hockey world blew it off as an anomaly.

In the first entry of our new feature, we look at the leading candidates for the NHL's MVP award and will continue to monitor the race all season. With four games and seven points under his belt, Alex Ovechkin is out of the gates fast and aims to take back the Hart Trophy that was his in both 2008 and 2009.
If the first week of the season is any indication, Alex Ovechkin took some serious umbrage to Henrik Sedin interrupting his run of consecutive Hart Trophies at two.
