Much has happened in the American League over the past 10 years.
The American League began the decade as a league confined to the eastern one-third of Canada and the United States. Ten years later, the AHL is a 29-team circuit stretching from Virginia to British Columbia.

First-year Adirondack coach wants to see more from his club... Valiquette's troubles... and Cloutier's quick exit.
Adirondack Phantoms coach Greg Gilbert is miffed these days, but sitting near the bottom of the Eastern Conference will do that to a coach. Despite a fairly ambitious off-season makeover that brought in veteran offensive talents Jason Ward and Krys Kolanos, big defender Joey Mormina and veteran Swedish goaltender Johan Backlund, the Phantoms so far have been a flop.
