Milan Hejduk earned nine points for the Avs last week.

The Hockey News player of the week for Dec. 2 – Dec. 9 is Colorado Avalanche winger Milan Hejduk.

The Czech native had been overshadowed by sophomore phenom Paul Stastny’s breakout year, but Hejduk exploded for a hat trick and six points in a 9-5 win over St. Louis on December 9.

The sniper had two goals and an assist—a point in each game—in the three preceding games, giving him a cool nine points on the week.

Hejduk is one of two remaining Nordiques draft picks in the Avs system, alongside Joe Sakic, and is in his ninth year in the Mile High City.

Mike Smith's three wins helped earn him this week's honor.
The Hockey News player of the week for Nov. 19-25 is Dallas Stars goalie Mike Smith. The 25-year-old stopper blanked Los Angeles 3-0 and posted one-goal wins over the Leafs and Rangers as the Stars continued their turnaround.

Vinny Lecavalier's eight points in two games earned him the honor for the second week in a row.
The Hockey News player of the week for Nov. 12-18 is Tampa Bay center Vincent Lecavalier. Lecavalier earned the honor for the second straight week by notching four goals and eight points in two games as the Bolts smashed Southeast Division foes Carolina 6-1 and Washington 5-2.
