New User Registration

The following is an edited edition of an e-mail (as recent as yesterday) I received from one of the forum's moderators in regards to the spam issue in THN Forum ( as it affects new user registration)

'I have four picnic tables outside. I like picnic tables for outdoor furniture whenever possible and whenever practical. We have them of them scattered all around. Three in the back and one in the front on the side of the house. I bought one of those cheap Canadian Tire screen houses to put over one of them. My favourite one. It helps to keep the mosquitoes and the wasps away. My better half and I can't stand those yellow jacket type of waspy things. They go after the food and anything sweet. I sit there with a can of Coke and the wasps show up en mass. The screen house keeps them away from our favourite picnic table. One time we barBQd some ribs covered in barBQ sauce and the wasps came right on cue. There must have been close to a hundred of them. My wife and I sat there eating quietly listening to the radio pretending not to notice. My wife was traumatized. There were a hundred of the damn things all flying around trying to get in. So many that their collective buzz became audible. As in 100dB audible. We tried to ignore it. Inevitably my wife said let's make a run for it and we did. Once the food and the Coke cans were gone so were the wasps. That is what THN Forum is like. Outside the forum there are hundreds of wasps trying to get in. They are all spammers. I take the new user registration out of its locked position for an hour and there are anywhere from six to ten spammers register an hour. Every hour. We have not had a legitimate new user registration in almost a month. All we get are spammers. Six to ten an hour. Every hour. Twenty four hours a day. None of them are from anywhere in North America. All of them are from Africa and the middle east. Russia and India. Yesterday there were a couple from Senegal and the United Arab Emirates. Liberia and Pakistan and Uzbekistan. China and Taiwan. That was just within an hour. They are all spammers. Like hundreds of wasps trying to get in. Parasites. Not one of them hockey fans. Edward from THN itself deleted over a thousand in one sitting. The moral of the story. We cannot let the guard down. Not even for an hour. I hope anyone interested in THN Forum e-mail the link provided. From there we can make arrangements for the new user to register then quickly get the guard back up and in whatever short time frame that is there will be another six to ten spammers also register and I will have to go back in there to delete them off again. It is frustrating. We cannot let the guard down. Not even for an hour'

If after reading the forum anyone is interested, please e-mail Leafland@Hotmail.com and we will help you to register by arranging for a time when you can go into THN Forum and register. After that, the new user is safe, and in.
