Hey Cotner, I am a huge Hawks' fan...some of those calls were pretty bogus. There were penalties by both teams in that game that weren't called but should have been. It should have ended up with both teams at around 7 PP's a piece, but it didn't. Like I said in my first comment, any team that has that many 5 on 3's and still loses deserves to lose. I was disgusted on how the Hawks' didn't just shoot, shoot, shoot on Lundqvuist instead of playing hot potatoe with the puck for most of the time. They better rebound by destroying a not-so-good Blues squad tonight. Go Hawks'!

Well, geez lapeetz, with all these Ranger fans on here echoing their thoughts about the game and officiating, I guess at least 1 Blackhawk fan had better throw in their 2 cents worth. 1st off, quit looking for an infraction on Rosival New York dudes, he didn't slash Sharp; the linesman who suggested the penalty to the refs missed the blueshirt sweater #. The penalty should have been on Prucha, but it really doesn't matter, the outcome would have been the same. Good grief, we tallied 1 goal in 5 (2 man advantages) in the game. In reality, we should have scored on all 5 and thus the game should have been in the bank by the end of the 1st period. Talk about a real brain fart !!! It was (is) totally unacceptable and we should feel totally lucky to get a point. You N.Y. Ranger fans need to quit bitching about your team; they're a-okay and your goalie is lights out in the best possible sense. Okay, I'm done. Hammer away !!!!!! Heh Heh Heh

Let's be real for a minute, Rangers57. After the horrible officiating in the Final last year (remember the non-interference flying stick in a last ditch effort to get Pittsburgh back in the series) that everyone EXCEPT the Hockey News et al saw, I wouldn't expect scathing criticisms of poor officiating now. I don't necessarily blame them though. The threats of BettCo can apparently be pretty persuasive to keep a lid on these things. It was a joke of a game in a long series of jokes perpetrated by BettCo on hockey fans who deserve better.

Totally agree that last night's game was S***. Both teams should be pressuring the League to straighten out and improve it's officiating! While last nights game was the worst officiated game (so far) this year, it's not the only game (just this year) that the officials have dragged into the gutter. Of course we will have the lame/dumb excuses that they (officials) have a tough job, GARBAGE! If these officials are some of the best that the NHL has, then the NHL is in trouble. If these officials can't or won't officiate, then they need to be FIRED! I don't care if they had a bad day, officiating games like last night was nothing but laughable. Why is it that we (the fans) never hear from the NHL about how the review process for officials are handled. If an official is reviewed and they (NHL) deem it the official be suspended, why aren't we told what transpired and why the decision was handed down? If I'm correct, the NHL is the only professional league in any sport, that fines/penalizes G.M.'s, Coaches, and players for critizing (even after the games) the officials. The NHL is and will always be last when compared to other sports, but that's ok because if we had 100 million fans we would be watching figure skating instead of ICE HOCKEY. Let's see how long it takes for publications like (THN) to write articles on the lousy NHL officiating, and maybe making it a FRONT COVER article. Something needs to be done and soon.

I have watched over 2000 hockey games in my life, and I am not a Ranger fan, but if I had to venture a guess, I would say that the refs either were being paid off by the owner or were betting against the Road Team (Rangers). Pathetic! I've seen better officiating at a Roller Derby match.

Grant G - 2009-01-17 10:06:33 ET
The NHL better straighten it's act out. NIght after night you witness the refs getting way too involved in games and last night was the worst officiated hockey game i've seen in YEARS maybe DECADES. What could have been a fantastic game was utterly disgusting. They NHL is trying to gather new fans but in the meantime if they keep this up they are going to lose the faithfull who have been watching for years.

As a Ranger fan yeah..I was upset about the one-sided calls (but they still won the game by the way) but as a HOCKEY FAN, who actually was looking forward to the game against what I think is a great Hawks team the officiating completely ruined any flow that would develop ( even for the Hawks)...I just watched the NHL network and of course all they would say is that the Rangers played a very un-disciplined game...Its no secret that after Renney finally blew his top ( at about the 55 minute mark) that the Rangers got the next two calls..even thats ridiculous...WWE officiating, without review and disciplinary actions by the leaugue will keep it second rate

We were cheated out of what could have been a great hockey match by inept officiating. The zebras should open their eyes or swallow their whistles.

Scott, The Rangers got away with one infraction -- prucha's high stick. In addition to getting almost a dozen powerplays, the Blackhawks also got away with at least two additional penalties. Ridiculous.

James A. Laraia - 2009-01-17 03:18:05 ET
Worst officiating seen in a long time. Had the game recorded and watched the replays over and over again and could not see any high stick on Roszival, nevermind a 4 min. Numerous other penalties that were garbage!! Refs completly ruined this game over and over!!!

Scott - 2009-01-17 01:20:25 ET
I will agree that there were some unbelievable calls in this game, but if you cant score more than once in 11 chances on the power play, you deserve to lose. I know all the Ranger fans are gonna gripe and moan about the officiating, but there were some obvious penalties that they did get away with in the game...so the Hawks' would have ended up with 9 or 10 power plays even if the refs got it right. Kudos to the Ranger PK unit.

First I want to thank Time Warner for putting this game on the preview guide channel, the broadcast reception was the worst I have ever seen. Which is a nice segue into the WORST officiating I have ever seen in a professional sport. If the was soccer the officials would by lynched in the town the called in the games in. Please as a hockey fan I am begging you to watch the tapes of the game. Roszival was called for a 4 min high-sticking penalty when there wasnt even a high stick to be had anywhere near a Blackhawks head. This game was a disgrace to the NHL and to its fans!!! DISGUSTING!!!!

stan the man - 2009-01-17 00:22:49 ET
ditto to Kaspar. the officiating was so hideous that the 2 refs should have their certifications revoked. they should have to buy a ticket to see their next hockey game

kaspar - 2009-01-17 00:01:54 ET
we were all looking forward to the Ranger vs Blackhawk game tonight...NY vs CHI!! It was the single worst officiated game I have ever seen in professional sports since the '72 olympic basketball final..you have to review the tapes..5 straight 5 on 3 PPs called against NY..Now the Rangers won but an unbelievable, almost spiteful officiating crew ruined what could have been a classic game..it would never fly in a real league like the NFL because they discipline thier officials...something has to be done..this league is a joke!

Do you think former Devils star goalie Martin Brodeur will sign a contract with the Blues after practicing with them this week?
