My associate Adam Proteau deemed the Atlantic Division the second-best in the NHL and who am I to disagree? Other than the Islanders, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see any of the Flyers, Rangers, Penguins or Devils atop the division (or conference, even) when all is said and done.

After a surprise 2007-08 campaign, expectations are rightfully high in la belle Province. But with four prominent players scheduled for unrestricted free agency on July 1, 2009, it could be this year or bust in Montreal.

It's still early, but based on the moves Nashville GM David Poile has pulled off so far this off-season, he has to be in the running for executive of the year in 2009.
I don’t know what kind of incriminating photos David Poile has of Dan Ellis, but whatever it is, it has to be nasty.
Because, quite frankly, there’s no other explanation for Ellis putting his John Hancock on a deal worth far less than he could have snagged on the open market after July 1.
