Despite rumors of a windfall national TV deal, the league is back with NBC for the next two seasons. But that's not the bad thing some are making it out to be.

Upon arriving in Las Vegas, a few conversations with people on the street revealed hockey isn't exactly on everyone's radar.
LAS VEGAS – Palm trees, poker, poolside piña coladas and…pucks?
When the NHL announced its 2009 awards gala would be moved from traditional Toronto to exotic Las Vegas, it begged and pleaded the question: “Why?”
Why hold one of your marquee events in a town saturated with marquees? A town that is firmly surrounded by desert, about 300 miles from your closest franchise location? A town in which NHL hockey barely registers on the radar screen, let alone the gambling board.

Sidney Crosby's ice time has been dropping since Game 3, to the point where he was fifth among Pens forwards in Game 6. So what's up with the superstar?
The question that niggles and nags me as we approach what we all hope is an epic Game 7 is: What’s up with Sidney Crosby?
I’m not talking about the anaemic production – one goal and three points through six games.

An overabundance of power plays kills the flow, but completely overlooking obvious penalties undoes all the good work that's been done to open up the game since the lockout.
Two minutes or not two minutes? That is the question.
There has been much chatter the past week about an obstruction crackdown slip during the Stanley Cup final.

From the GM to the coach to their immense on-ice talent, this year's edition of the Red Wings is as stacked as any in history - and that's quite a feat.
If in two weeks or so the Detroit Red Wings win their fifth Stanley Cup in 12 seasons, we’ll have had the privilege of being witnesses to a remarkable period in hockey history.

There's something that just doesn't sit right about taking a team out of a market before the fans have had a chance to witness a winner.
As much as I’d like to see another NHL team or three in Canada, there’s a part of me that feels there’s unfinished business in Phoenix.

After an exciting Game 1 the Wings and Hawks have set the stage for a series to rival last round's Crosby-Ovechkin matchup.
Move over Sid vs. Ovie, we may just have a new best playoff series of 2009.
The anticipation for the Detroit-Chicago Western Conference final was offense-on-offense; the No.
