The Maple Leafs made big changes recently, the mess isn't any smaller.
Before proceeding any further it’s important that we first agree on one undeniable and inarguable fact: Toronto is the Center of the Hockey Universe.

With the halfway point upon us, the NHL’s crescendo is reaching full pitch (not the Roger Clemens steroid-induced kind) and has taught us many things along the way.
Can we really be halfway through another NHL season already? My, where has the time gone? Stupid me, evidently I set my watch by the first Steve Downie suspension.

The WJC is life and death for Canadian hockey fans, but for most of the rest of the world only the latter applies.
While I’d love to believe the “world” part in the World Junior Hockey Championship is truly globally felt, I can’t help but feel the true mindless obsession for this relatively new holiday tradition ends south of Windsor, east of St.

We the NHL set to head outside, we wonder whether the weather's precipitation will precipitate a changed view of hockey in the U.S.
An optimist would call it buzz. A pessimist would call it hype. I just call it confusing.
The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres are set to do battle in the annual – it happened once before, some four years ago, thus it’s annual – NHL Winter Classic.

A fighter isn't like your average Joe and can't be understood until you walk a mile in his shoes.
Oh, it’s so easy for you. You just sit there in your high perch thingy and make fun of us – the tough guys of the game – as if you even know what it feels like to do our job.

The NHL is testing new Therma Blades and it's the best thing since sliced bread was first toasted.
Perhaps I’m missing something in the translation.
In case you haven’t heard, evidently the next big thing in hockey equipment and apparel is – get this – heated skate blades.

Deck the halls and buy your tickets, S.C. is making a rare appearance on the west coast.
Right now, a somewhat benevolent stranger who hasn’t been in their neck of the woods for a very long time is visiting people in western Canada.

It takes a lot of hard work to go 40 years without winning a Stanley Cup.
Don't go changing, to try and please me…
It’s amazing how everyone likes to kick you when you’re down and, when you’re the Toronto Maple Leafs, that’s a heck of a lot of kicking.

THN's resident funnyman is on a "working" vacation and is on the lookout for ice action in one of the NHL's truly hot beds.
First off, I apologize if this column smells a little like fresh grapefruit and palm oil. This is coming to you from a balmy, unnamed Indian Shores Coffee Co.

How far is too far when it comes to trash talking in professional sports?
The story has grown both tired and redundant by now. New York’s resident juggling clown, Sean Avery, gets in a pre-game shouting and shoving match with Toronto’s own resident one-trick pony Darcy Tucker after Avery may or may not have said something offensive to Tucker’s teammate Jason Blake.

Can one man make a difference? In the search of life, liberty, and shootout goals, he certainly can.
This NHL shootout thing is turning into a real Pandora’s Box (For the record I have no idea who Pandora is and why his or her box is so difficult to get into - or out of – but, like all lazy writers, I’ll cite the 1927 case of The People v.
