Thanks to a good chunk of first round series going deep and more fans paying more for tickets, the NHL's rich will continue to get richer.
The San Jose Sharks could not become the first team in 33 years to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a series, but they can take comfort in the fact they did a small part to put more money in the pockets of both their employers and union brothers.

The 2007-08 version of the NHL playoffs has given a grumpy old man plenty to be grumpy about.
I believe it was during the Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh crazes when I first noticed the generation gap. When my boys first came home with these cards and began talking about them in what seemed like a foreign language, I feigned interest, but quickly discovered I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about.

To prove they are committed to winning Nashville needs to pony up and ink their UFA netminder to a long-term deal.
The Nashville Predators have played a total of 12 home playoff games in the past four post-seasons and 11 of them have been legitimate sellouts.

Well, we can all breathe a sigh of relief now. With the Washington Capitals making the playoffs, it's almost certain the Professional Hockey Writers' Association has saved itself from potential embarrassment by naming the wrong player as the NHL's most valuable player.

The Torrey Mitchell hit on Kurtis Foster caused an uproar to institute no-touch icing, but where are these voices after other dangerous plays?
It was about as predictable as an episode of Three’s Company. The moment Kurtis Foster of the Minnesota Wild went hurtling into the boards and broke his leg last week trying to beat Torrey Mitchell of the San Jose Sharks to the puck, the usual hue and cry came from the hockey community calling for an immediate move to no-touch icing.

It's may put a damper on dealings, but NTCs are a new fact of life in the NHL at that isn't about to change anytime soon.
Unless GMs can somehow convince the league they need to be saved from themselves, no-trade clauses will continue to be an integral part of the NHL landscape.

There were plenty of intelligent hockey men lining up to sign Foppa, but his decision not to return to the NHL this season prevented teams from making a big mistake.
When you consider he probably could have successfully sold any number of NHL teams a bill of goods, you have to give Peter Forsberg high marks for honesty.

The Leafs must try and pry the current Wings GM out of Detroit by giving him complete control and wads of cash.
I had to chuckle when I read a piece in one of the Toronto dailies that said history suggests the Toronto Maple Leafs' Stanley Cup drought will only get longer if they go out and hire a "proven winner" such as Ken Holland, Jim Rutherford or Brian Burke to fill their GM vacancy.
