As the old saying goes, actions speak louder than words, and Pavel Datsyuk's actions in his hometown speak volumes about his character.
Some guys just get it.
Pavel Datsyuk, the superstar of few words, has taken a couple weeks out of his summer for the past three years to give back to the community and provide a lucky group of kids with a unique hockey school experience.

It's a whole new season with many things to look forward to, so here are three teams this author is looking forward to seeing in action.
The final green has been played (even if it was a three-putt), the final out has been made (even if our team was blown out of the park) and the final bonfire has been slayed (by the fall rain, unfortunately).

With the amount of upstart goalies making waves, it's easy to look past the traditional big names. However, those big names can still push the right buttons.
In the past three Stanley Cup finals, Marc-Andre Fleury, Chris Osgood, Antti Niemi and Michael Leighton were the starring goalies. Not exactly a collection that would rival a Patrick Roy-Martin Brodeur showdown.

As we near training camps, the smell of NHL hockey is back in the air, so we are starting to look forward to a few performances.
In a recent THN Puck Panel, colleague John Grigg and I discussed two sophomores each whom we thought were going to have improved seasons. Aside from the obvious choices of John Tavares and Matt Duchene, I went with Jamie Benn of the Stars and Artem Anisimov of the Rangers, while John picked James van Riemsdyk of the Flyers and went a little off the board with Brandon Yip of the Avalanche.

The Hawks have made many moves to get under the cap, but is losing Antti Niemi the first that will impact the regular season?
For the most part, I think the impact the moves Chicago has been forced to make this off-season has been over-analyzed and that when the puck drops again in October the Blackhawks will continue to be a dominant team in the Western Conference.

Even in a cap crunch, the Bruins still have the mix to take a run at the Cup and trading their best offensive asset would only hurt those chances.

It’s one of hockey’s strange tales. Back in 1984, a little-known left-hander from Massachusetts was selected in the fourth round (69th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings, the same year he was picked in the second round (47th overall), by the Atlanta Braves.

One look at the Flyers and Blackhawks reveals that top-tier goalies can be overvalued. It also begs the question: Why buy when you can build?
If the Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks have proven anything this season, it’s that you don’t have to know in October who your starter will be in April to be a successful club.
