Now that we’re in the middle of July and the New York Rangers have signed the players that they wanted to sign for next season and beyond, things have slowed down a bit. However, there are always happenings here and there.
Welcome to the middle of July, where the days are hot, the nights are long and your craving for hockey is at an all-time high. However, the NHL still exists and the New York Rangers are still making moves, however minor they may be.

Despite what many Ranger fans think, GM Glen Sather has always had a plan for his hockey club and right now, he is putting the pieces in place to give fans a team that will be younger, quicker and a more offensive hockey team.
In this “new” NHL, teams are looking to be quicker, younger and play more of a puck pursuit style of hockey. New York Rangers’ GM Glen Sather started to realize this last summer when he signed big-time free agents Scott Gomez and Chris Drury.

The New York Post reports that New York Rangers' GM Glen Sather said the team has no intention of signing its big free agents before July 1.
New York Rangers GM Glen Sather sure has strange ways of showing his players that he wants them come back next season. It was reported this morning in The New York Post that Sather has no intention of resigning Jaromir Jagr, Sean Avery, Brendan Shanahan, Martin Straka and Michal Rozsival before July 1.

With the free agency season looming over the New York Rangers, one of their decisions may have just gotten easier. The team announced today that defenseman Michal Rozsival will undergo hip surgery to repair a tear, something he may have sustained during the postseason or at another time when he was banged up during the regular season.

When the New York Rangers signed two of the three top free agents in the NHL last summer, the team had nothing but hopes of a Stanley Cup. What they got instead was disappointment.
For the New York Rangers, a five-game second round loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins can be described in one word: disappointing. The Rangers were given every chance to win this series as they had a countless number of power plays, a three-goal lead in Game 1 and even managed to play solid defense against the Penguins’ high-powered offense throughout the series.
