Who needs Patrick Kane when the Chief is wearing No. 88

Brian Costello
Minnesota Wild v Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks are ailing with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews on the sidelines, but they got a bit of intermission help from an unlikely source when actor Eamonn Walker hit the bullseye not once, but twice from center ice.

Shooting right-handed and wearing a Blackhawks’ No. 88 jersey, Walker missed his first attempt during the Shoot The Puck second intermission promotion, but then found one of three goal-net openings on his second attempt. That qualified him to take another shot in the opposite direction at the net board with just one, small opening. He buried it in the heart.

Walker, 51, plays Battalion Chief Wallace Boden on the NBC series Chicago Fire. His two goals Thursday in front of hometown fans brought the house down at the United Center. The London, England-born actor didn’t look overly comfortable with the hockey stick, but he made it work. As he said, he’s the “first Black Brit with a hockey stick.”
