If you’ve ever wondered what it would look like to see what would happen when your favorite Russian NHL (or former NHL) players met “We Are The World”, you’re in luck, because a music video celebrating Russia hosting the 2014 Winter Olympics has been released.

The video is for a song called “Shaybu, Shaybu,” by Russian singer Irina Allegrova; Russian stars Alex Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin and Ilya Kovalchuk are among current players who appear in the video, as do retired legends such as Vladislav Tretiak and Pavel Bure. While it’s not designed to appeal to North American tastes, you have to appreciate athletes having some fun while appealing to their fellow countrymen.

Of course, the gold standard for hockey videos remains the immortal Calgary Flames “Red Hot” video from 1987. There can never be another. There will never be another. There should never be another.
