Former NHL defenseman Ian White was reportedly arrested Friday on several “weapons-related offenses” in Winnipeg, according to TSN’s Rick Westhead.

Westhead reported Sunday afternoon that White, 31, is currently facing “two charges of careless use or storage of a firearm or prohibited device,” as well charges for “unauthorized possession of a firearm, possessing a firearm in an unauthorized place, unauthorized importing of a prohibited or restricted firearm, and breach of recognizance.”

Westhead added that according to Canada's Criminal Code White could face up to two years in prison for each careless use charge, and up to an additional 19 years in prison if handed the maximum sentence on each subsequent charge.

White was last under contract with a professional club in March 2015 when he was on a PTO with the Milwaukee Admirals. However, White was released from the PTO before the AHL season concluded and had not signed a contract for the 2015-16 season. Last season, White 42 games in the AHL, scoring four goals and 23 points. His last games in the NHL came in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign with the Detroit Red Wings.

Over his 500-game NHL career, White suited up for the Red Wings, San Jose Sharks, Carolina Hurricanes, Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs. He broke into the NHL in 2006-07 with Toronto, who had drafted him in the sixth-round, 191st overall, in 2002. Over his career, White notched 45 goals and 179 points. His best season came in 2009-10 when he scored 13 goals and 38 points split between the Maple Leafs and Flames.

White had a brief stint in training camp with the Winnipeg Jets prior to the 2013-14 season, but was released before the campaign began.

A native of Steinbach, Man., White represented Canada internationally at the 2003 World Junior Championship, 2006 Spengler Cup and 2009 World Championship.
