A New York Rangers fan has paid tribute to Henrik Lundqvist with some unique hair-art, courtesy of Joe Barber. The Rangers supporter got a picture of ‘King Henrik’ shaved onto the back of his head ahead of Game 5.
Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist is one of the faces of the New York Rangers. Now, he’s also one of the
faces on a New York Rangers fan’s head. Thanks to Joe Barber, the aptly named barber based out of San Antonio, ‘King Henrik’ will be watching one Rangers fan’s back as he pulls for his team to even up the Eastern Conference final at three games apiece and hopes for the Rangers to get back to their second consecutive Stanley Cup final.
The picture of Lundqvist, taken from the
January page of the Rangers’ 2010-11 team calendar, shows the netminder sporting his equipment before donning his jersey. Quite the throwback image, we must say. It’s not the first time Barber has put a Rangers player on a fan’s head, though. Earlier this post-season, Barber’s work made the rounds when he shaved Chris Kreider’s cheering face into the hair of another
New York supporter’s head. Barber also showed off his comedic chops, helping the Rangers make a
playoff commercial featuring Mats Zuccarello. Maybe shaving Lundqvist into the back of a fan’s head can help the Rangers goaltender pick up the victory in a must-win Game 6 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. It didn’t help ahead of Game 5, in which the Lightning shut out the Rangers 2-0 to push New York to the brink of elimination. The Rangers currently trail the Lightning 3-2 in the best-of-seven series, with Game 6 set to go Tuesday evening in Tampa Bay.
