Halloween is nearing, so take a look at the best NHL costumes being worn by NHL stars. Some went the spooky route, but it’s hard to beat the ridiculousness of T.J. Oshie’s Dalmatian costume or Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn and Jason Demers as the Three Blind Mice.
It’s the Halloween week, which means teams around the NHL have their parties and team gatherings in full swing. With that comes costumes — glorious, ridiculous and hilarious costumes. Last year there were some incredible costumes. P.K. Subban’s version of Michael Jackson from the ‘Thriller’ music video was a massive hit, as was the team effort from the Washington Capitals, which included characters from Dodgeball and the Three Musketeers. And while we’ve yet to see what Subban has up his sleeve in 2015, a pair of Capitals players find themselves among the best dressed this year:
Alex Ovechkin made his mark as one of the most prolific snipers in the world. But even as kids around the world dress up as Ovechkin, their on-ice hero, the ‘Great 8’ is allowed to have some heroes of his own:
Ovechkin also gave everyone a look at the entire Capitals team, which features Evgeny Kuznetsov as Harry Potter.
There’s also this fantastic pairing of Brooks Laich and Andre Burakovsky as Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story:
But no Capitals player did it better than T.J. Oshie and Lauren, his wife. You might not recognize him at first, but, yes, that is Oshie down on his hands and knees dressed up like a Dalmatian:
Sticking with the animal theme, get a glimpse of Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn and Jason Demers. Benn and Seguin were part of the Ninja Turtles foursome at Dallas’ party last season, but recruited Jason Demers this season to fill out a spot as one of the Three Blind Mice:
Seguin and Benn’s costumes keep getting better, but one of the funniest looks goes to New Jersey Devils right winger Jordin Tootoo. He might be tough to play against on the ice, but Tootoo has a sense of humor…and possibly a sweet tooth after spending so much time in Willy Wonka’s factory:
The Capitals’ and Stars’ costumes showcased the more fun-loving side of Halloween, but Edmonton Oilers star Taylor Hall went a different route. Instead of going for the laughs, Hall embraced the more frightening side of Halloween. Get a glimpse of his Zipperface look:
Steve Ott also went the frightening route and showed how excited he is for the upcoming DC Comics movie ‘Suicide Squad.’ Ott’s Joker is fantastic, as is his wife Erica’s Harley Quinn:
But for every villain there has to be a superhero. The Calgary Flames used their star power to bring smiles to the faces of young children. Dressed as the Avengers, Josh Jooris (Thor), Dougie Hamilton (Iron Man), Micheal Ferland (Hulk) and Sam Bennett (Captain America) visited children at Alberta Children’s Hospital:
