First Hockey Memory: “I grew up in northern Alberta. So watching Oilers games with my dad, my family back home watching when I was young, they were really good. You were watching Gretzky, Messier, guys like that. Wayne Gretzky was obviously my idol growing up.”

Hockey Inspirations: “When I grew up, when I was younger it was the Oiler guys. When I got older it was more like Joe Sakic, Cam Neely, Steve Yzerman, guys like that.”

Last Book Read: “Gee, it’s been a while. I don’t know what it was. I started reading an autobiography of Nelson Mandela lately just because of all the news thats happened with him.”

Current Car: “Jeep Grand Cherokee. Oh, actually I have a Ford F 150. My wife drives the Jeep.”

First Famous Hockey Player You Met Or Encountered: “I like Esa Tikkanen. He came to my hometown for an autograph signing when I was young.”

Greatest Sports Moment: “Ah, you know, obviously haven’t went too far. So I think your first goal ranks up there with it. I scored in my first game with my parents in the crowd (Where?) In Chicago when I played with the Blackhawks.”

Most Painful Moment: “The injuries. Or losing in the playoffs.”

Closest Hockey Friends: “There’s so many. I’ve played on three teams now. With three or four years with each, so, it’s hard to narrow it down.”

Funniest Player Encountered: “Andre Roy.”

Fiercest Competitor Encountered: “Duncan Keith.”

Why Do You Love Playing Hockey: “Being around the guys in the locker room. And the competitiveness of being in games. Just the fun in competing.”

Strangest Game: “In the minors we played some games during the week at like eleven o’clock in the morning so kids from local schools could come watch. It was just different playing that early on a weekday.”

Favorite Sport Outside Hockey: “Baseball.”

Embarrassing Hockey Memory: “I fell down in a shootout in junior. (Where?) I played for the St. Albert Saints in Alberta Junior Hockey League. I caught a run and slipped.”

People/Personality Qualities Most Admired: “Just being honest with you. Being able to look somebody in the eye and get the truth out of them. Caring people.”
