There’s yet another strange injury to add to the list, and this time Chicago’s Corey Crawford is the one sidelined with an odd ailment. The goaltender missed a step leaving a concert and will be out for 2-3 weeks.

It’d be hard to imagine a season in which there have been stranger injuries than 2014-15. Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford’s lower body injury simply adds to that list.

Crawford missed practice Tuesday with what was reported to be a lower body injury. On Wednesday, coach Joel Quenneville said the Blackhawks starting goaltender would be sidelined for at least two weeks, possibly longer.

Shortly after Quenneville revealed the severity of the goaltenders injury, Crawford spoke to the media, saying that the injury was sustained while at a concert.

While it’s nearly impossible to confirm, the belief is that Crawford was injured at a Rise Against concert, but the 29-year-old would not confirm which concert he was attending, nor if alcohol was involved. All Crawford would confirm is that he missed a step leaving the show, which resulted in the injury.

“I'm pretty embarrassed about it, frustrated,” Crawford told the assembled media. “Things were going really well. Right now, I'm just thinking about trying to get back as quickly as possible and make sure I'm right back where I was when I left off."

Crawford was on pace to post the best numbers of his career. Through 18 games, he had a 12-5-1 record, .929 save percentage, and 1.87 goals-against average.

Already this season players have missed time with mumps, blood clots, and Minnesota Wild goaltender Josh Harding missed time – and was then suspended – after he kicked a wall, injuring his foot.
