Fantasy Pool Look: Players filing back into the lineup

The Carolina Hurricanes activated left winger Cory Stillman off of injured reserve Monday. While the exact date of his return is not known, it is almost certain he will be back by Dec. 11 – the last game of their current road trip.

Stillman will need several games to find his groove. Once he gets there, however, he will reclaim his spot as Carolina's No.1 left winger. Ray Whitney, currently having a career season, is also a left winger. It will be Whitney that loses the ice time – particularly on the power play…

Ryan Malone was back in the Pittsburgh lineup Tuesday night. For the most part, he played with Evgeni Malkin and Nils Ekman, logging over 17 minutes of ice time. He also played 4:33 on the power playÂ…

Michel Ouellet of the Penguins has been medically cleared to play. He was not in the lineup Tuesday, but will be back Thursday against the Rangers or Saturday against Atlanta at the latest. Expect one of Chris Thorburn, Erik Christensen, or Ronald Petrovicky to be scratched and/or sent back to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American LeagueÂ…

Barring any setbacks, Washington's Dainius Zubrus, who has missed the last two games with a severe illness (they are saying a terrible case of the flu, but the symptoms sounded a lot worse), will be back in the lineup Wednesday nightÂ…

Martin Havlat's return to the Chicago lineup from a high ankle sprain did not happen Tuesday night as once thought. He is now looking at coming back Thursday against Phoenix. The main beneficiary? Radim Vrbata. The line on Vrbata: 10 points in seven games with Havlat. Eight points in 18 games withoutÂ…

And now the other side of the coin – the players that are out of the lineup because of injury…

Injuries, from a fantasy pool perspective: Mike Modano suffered a hip flexor injury Monday night and likely will miss at least a game or two. This type of injury will hurt his production right through to the New YearÂ…Vancouver lost the services of rearguard Sami Salo for 3-10 days with neck spasms and forward Taylor Pyatt for 2-4 weeks with a shoulder injury. I would offer you a recommendation for a winger to replace Pyatt on your fantasy squad, but this team has no wingers to choose from beyond their top lineÂ…Trent Hunter suffered a knee injury and will be out of the Islanders lineup for two to four weeks. The Isles recalled Jeremy Colliton from Bridgeport.

Farm Report: Speaking of Colliton, the 21-year-old was having a horrible season in the AHL, with just three points in his first 18 games. That said, he has compiled seven points in his last four games, pushing him to the front of the line on the Islanders' recall list.
