Capitals promote Ross Mahoney to assistant general manager

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have promoted Ross Mahoney to assistant general manager.

The Capitals announced Monday that Mahoney will advise new general manager Brian MacLellan in all player-related matters.

Mahoney has served as a director of amateur scouting for the Capitals the past 16 seasons.

Mahoney has also been a scout with the Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks.
