Bergeron, Burns and Keith named finalists for NHL foundation player award

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron, San Jose Sharks forward Brent Burns and Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Duncan Keith were named finalists for the NHL Foundation Player Award on Friday.

The award is presented to "an NHL player who applies the core values of hockey—commitment, perseverance and teamwork—to enrich the lives of people in his community," the NHL said in a release.

Teams submitted nominations for the honour and the finalists were selected by a judging panel. The NHL Foundation will present US$25,000 to the chosen charitable organization of this year's recipient.

The winner will be announced June 24 at the NHL Awards show in Las Vegas.
