Red Wings recall defenceman Alexey Marchenko from Grand Rapids of AHL

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings recalled defenceman Alexey Marchenko from Grand Rapids of the AHL on Friday.

Marchenko, drafted by Detroit in the seventh round in 2011, has two goals, 14 assists and a team-best plus-15 rating in in 33 games for the Griffins this season. The Moscow native has yet to play an NHL game. He is in his first season in North America after spending parts of the last four seasons in the KHL.

The Red Wings play at Dallas on Saturday night.
