RALEIGH, N.C. - The Carolina Hurricanes say forward Jeff Skinner has a concussion.
The team disclosed Skinner's injury Wednesday and listed him on its injury report as day to day.
The NHL's 2011 rookie of the year missed the Hurricanes' loss at Montreal on Monday night with what was initially described as an upper body injury. He was hurt Feb. 14 in a win over Toronto but skated during practice the following day.
It's the second straight year Skinner has suffered a concussion. He missed 16 games last season with one.
The 20-year-old Skinner is second on the team both in goals (seven) and points (14).

“I think when you’re at home the first two games, sometimes you get a little bit too comfortable at home. Then you come on the road, maybe it’s like a rude awakening…We’ve had three series to figure that out, learn it. We definitely want to be better (Monday), especially in the first game on the road.”
