Buffalo's Vanek, Pittsburgh's Kunitz and Vancouver's Luongo take NHL three stars

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. - Buffalo Sabres left-winger Thomas Vanek was named NHL first star of the week Monday after leading all players with 10 points last week.

Pittsburgh Penguins left-wing Chris Kunitz earned the second star and Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo picked up the third star.

Vanek recorded five goals and five assists in four games. Kunitz had eight points (4-4) in four games last week, including a pair of game-winning goals.

Luongo posted a 2-0-1 record over the stretch. He had a 0.95 goals-against average and .963 save percentage.
